This city with its vast tea plantations and the fragrance of tea shines like an emerald in the middle of the region. It is located in a plain land with an area of 583/3 sq km. The south of this region is embraced with Alborz foothills and its vast jungles. The meaning of Lahijan is the city of Silk because of its fame for silk trade, tea and peanuts in the past. Lahijan is a beautiful agricultural town with an outstanding historical past. Places of tourist interest in and around it are a mosque from Timurid period, Mir shams od-Din shrine, Akbarieh mosque, Golshan Bath, Mausoleum of Sheikh Zahed, Sheitan kuh with a natural pond and large park on its slopes.
