Sistan and Baluchestan is the second largest province in Iran. This Province has an area of about 181,578 sq km of which 8,117 sq km of the province is Sistan and 17,387 sq km is Baluchestan. Sistan, the north-east part of the province, was once a fertile agricultural area and the seat of many ancient kingdoms. It is rich in ancient and prehistoric sites.
